Meet the Founder

Chip Moreno

Founder, Expat Ecuador · Cuenca, Ecuador

Moving to Ecuador offers incredible opportunities but also adds complexity. Whether it's navigating the residency process or staying compliant with the IRS while 3,000 miles away, I help Americans eliminate the friction of living abroad.

I built Expat Ecuador to solve a problem I experienced firsthand: staying informed about what's happening in your new country. Every day, we cover the stories that matter most to the English-speaking community living in Ecuador.

Beyond news, I provide the infrastructure expats need to thrive through two specialized practices:

EcuaPass

Expert advisory for Ecuador visa and residency, specializing in Professional and Investment Visa tracks.

FileAbroad

U.S. expat tax services including FBAR/FATCA compliance, FEIE optimization, and tax preparation.

I hold a B.S. in Computer Science from Western Governors University and am based in Cuenca, Ecuador. If you're planning a move to Ecuador or need to streamline your cross-border taxes, I'd be happy to help.
