Ecuador has opened the next step for students seeking places in public technological institutes and higher conservatories.
The registration period began on June 18, 2026 and runs through June 22, 2026. It applies to applicants who previously completed the Registro Nacional and want to continue the admissions process.
Where The Process Happens
The process is virtual through admision.educacion.gob.ec.
This admissions phase covers 54 public technological institutes and higher conservatories attached to the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture. After registration closes, applicants must take the Evaluacion de Capacidades y Competencias to continue through the next stages.
Public Universities Are Separate
The article notes that 33 public universities and polytechnic schools maintain their own admissions calendars because of institutional autonomy. Anyone applying to those institutions needs to check each university or polytechnic school directly.
The government also said public higher-education places increased by more than 9,000 spots for the first academic period of 2026 compared with the first academic period of 2025.
What This Means for Expats
For foreign residents with Ecuadorian children, stepchildren or family members applying to public technical education, the window is short. June 22 is the immediate date to watch.
Also, do not mix up institute and conservatory admissions with public university calendars. They are not necessarily on the same timeline.
