Water service is coming back gradually in several southeast Quito parishes.

Primicias reports that 39 barrios in Alangasi, Amaguana, Conocoto and Guangopolo had a potable-water cut on June 2, 2026 because of maintenance work.

According to Epmaps, the work was carried out on the Tesalia Transmission Line and included intervention on 16 valves in the system serving those four parishes.

What Epmaps Said

Primicias reports that 80 Epmaps technicians and operators participated in the work and completed it the same day.

Even so, service restoration is progressive.

Epmaps said supply could normalize through the early hours of June 5, because water has to move through the infrastructure again before reaching homes.

While service returns, 25 water tankers in Alangasi, Amaguana, Conocoto and Guangopolo are delivering potable water, prioritizing schools, health centers, senior-care spaces and markets.

What This Means for Expats

If you live in the Tumbaco/Cumbaya side of Quito, this may not affect you. If you live or have family, staff or school connections in the southeast valleys, it matters.

Do not assume water is back because the repairs are finished. Epmaps is describing a gradual refill process, so buildings may recover at different times depending on storage tanks and local pressure.
