Quito's July vehicle-review window is now open for vehicles with plates ending in 6.
The Agencia Metropolitana de Transito (AMT) is continuing the 2026 calendar for technical vehicle review and registration. During July, owners whose plate ends in 6 must complete both processes.
What Drivers Need To Do
Before booking, drivers are advised to check for pending obligations tied to fines, prior registration or previous review issues. The listed obligations can include amounts from AMT, the national transit agency, the Pichincha road fund fee and the technical review cost of USD 25.
Once those are cleared, drivers can book a review appointment at one of Quito's six enabled centers: San Isidro del Inca, Los Chillos, Guamani, Carapungo, Florida or Guajalo.
Fines To Watch
AMT warned that drivers who miss the assigned month face a USD 25 fine. If the noncompliance continues through the end of the year, the sanction can rise to USD 50.
What This Means For Expats
If you own a car in Quito, do not treat the review as flexible paperwork. It is tied to the annual circulation permit, and late compliance can stack small but annoying costs.
For anyone buying a used car, this is also a useful reminder to check whether review, registration and fines are current before money changes hands.
