Quito Vehicle Review Centers Extend Hours After AMT System Failures

Quito vehicle owners have a short extended-hours window after system failures delayed review and registration work.

Primicias reports that the Agencia Metropolitana de Transito (AMT) resolved its computer-system failures on May 27, 2026, after days of problems with payment-order generation in Quito.

What Is Working Again

According to Primicias, AMT said the automatic validation system is operating again and allows vehicle review and registration processes to resume in the capital.

El Universo reports that AMT also said the automatic payment-validation system is operating normally.

Payment orders can be generated Monday through Saturday from 07:00 to 22:00.

Appointments and online registration, connected with the Agencia Nacional de Transito (ANT), are available Monday through Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.

Extended Review-Center Hours

El Universo reports that AMT will maintain expanded hours at the six vehicle technical review centers.

The schedule is:

• Wednesday, May 27: 07:00 to 17:00
• Thursday, May 28: 07:00 to 17:00
• Friday, May 29: 07:00 to 17:00
• Saturday, May 30: 07:00 to 14:00

The agency said the interruption came from work carried out during the weekend, which caused users to be unable to complete vehicle legalization normally at the start of the week.

What This Means For Expats

For expats with vehicles in Quito, this is a practical admin window. If a failed payment order or system outage blocked your review or registration process, AMT says the systems are back and the centers have extra hours through Saturday.
