Ecuador's National Transit Agency, ANT, has extended a short license grace period after the national holiday disrupted service.

ANT said it will not provide public attention on Friday, June 26, 2026, and also suspended the special service day planned for Saturday, June 27 for license renewals.

What Changed

The key practical change is for drivers whose licenses expired or expire between June 26 and June 30, 2026. ANT extended the validity of those licenses until August 31, 2026.

The agency also said users with appointments scheduled for June 26 would receive rescheduling instructions through official ANT channels. The Sistema Único de Tránsito (SUIT) is also unavailable during the holiday and should resume after the day off.

What This Means for Expats

If your Ecuadorian driver's license falls inside that June 26-30 expiration window, the new date to watch is August 31, 2026. That buys time, but it does not remove the need to renew.

If you already had an appointment, confirm the replacement schedule before traveling to an ANT office. Do not assume the original turn remains valid unless ANT confirms it.
