Quito's usual Sunday Ciclopaseo will pause this weekend.
Primicias reports that the Municipality of Quito will suspend the Paseo Dominical on May 31, 2026, because of the Quito 15K and 21K races.
The city said both race routes interfere with several sections of the Ciclopaseo.
Race Route
Primicias reports the races will start at Avenida Pedro Vicente Maldonado and El Tablon, in south Quito.
They will finish at Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa, in north Quito.
The municipality said the Sunday change is needed for logistics, operations and traffic management from early morning.
When Ciclopaseo Returns
Primicias reports that Paseo Dominical activities will return normally the following weekend.
What This Means For Expats
If Sunday morning is your bike, walk or family-outing routine in Quito, do not show up expecting the normal route. If you need to cross the city, assume extra traffic controls around the race corridor and the Atahualpa area.
For runners and spectators, plan transport early. Race-day closures tend to punish last-minute taxi and rideshare plans.
