Ecuador's national traffic platform is still not fully stable after a system failure hit license and vehicle-registration services.
La Hora reports that the Agencia Nacional de Transito (ANT) said on Monday, May 18, 2026, that the Sistema Unico Integrado de Transito (SUIT) continued to present technical difficulties and had not fully restored several national services.
What's Affected
According to La Hora, the limitations and interruptions affect:
- Driver's license issuance
- The appointment system
- Web applications for certificates
- Vehicle-registration processes connected with municipal GADs (Gobiernos Autonomos Descentralizados)
La Hora also reports that Quito's Agencia Metropolitana de Transito (AMT) confirmed its vehicle-registration processes were temporarily affected because of the ANT-administered system failure.
What ANT Says About Appointments
La Hora reports that document procedures and services that do not require direct SUIT connection will be handled normally, depending on each office's operational capacity.
For people with appointments, the key line is this: Monday and Tuesday appointments will be reprogrammed with priority, according to the ANT plan described by La Hora.
What This Means for Expats
If you have a license, certificate, appointment or vehicle-registration errand this week, do not assume the online or agency process is normal. Check the official ANT or local transit-agency channel before going, and keep proof of any pending appointment if your original turn was affected.
