Guayaquil faced flooding for a second consecutive day after intense rain hit the city again on June 9, 2026.

In Las Orquideas, water from the Mucho Lote rainwater channel overflowed and accumulated on nearby roads.
Authorities said the strong rain in Guayaquil is not being treated as an El Nino event, although broader forecasts still point to more rain in much of Ecuador through June 10.
