Heavy rain created a messy Monday night in Santo Domingo de los Colorados.

El Universo reports that intense rain on the afternoon of Monday, June 1, caused impacts in several sectors of Santo Domingo de los Colorados.

The outlet reported water accumulation in streets and avenues, water entering homes, and vehicles with mechanical problems.

Affected Areas

One of the hardest-hit points was the intersection of Jacinto Cortez Jhayya and Sixto Duran Ballen, in front of Unidad Educativa Alexandro Volta, bloque II.

Residents reported that homes and commercial premises were affected by water entering the properties, while drivers had trouble circulating through the area.

El Universo also reported the overflowing of a creek in Ciudad Nueva, sector 1.

Flooding also affected access roads in Santa Martha, sector 2, on Jacinto Cortez Avenue.

Municipal Response

El Universo reports that the municipal task force was activated to respond to emergency reports.

The outlet also identified Chilachito as another risk point where actions are planned for families and vulnerable sectors that could be affected by rain.

Other priority sectors include Ciudad Nueva and Valle Hermoso, where preventive work is planned for possible floods, landslides and related emergencies.
