13,689 Ecuadorians Received Spanish Nationality in 2025

Ecuador remained one of the biggest origin countries for new Spanish citizens in 2025.

El Mercurio reports that 13,689 Ecuadorians obtained Spanish nationality in 2025.

The outlet says Ecuador led the list for the fourth consecutive year.

According to El Mercurio, Spain granted 252,476 nationalities in 2025, down 4.8% from 2024.

• Bolivia: 3,862
• Argentina: 3,625

El Mercurio reports that Ecuadorians received 12,320 Spanish nationalities in 2024, 20,880 in 2023 and 20,844 in 2022.
