Sunday's national forecast is a wet one for much of Ecuador.
El Universo reports that the Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia e Hidrologia kept meteorological warning No. 39 active and issued its forecast for Sunday, May 31.
Where Rain Is Expected
For the Amazon, El Universo reports variable-intensity rain in much of the region.
Cities listed in the forecast include Nueva Loja, Coca, Tena, Macas, Shell-Mera and Zamora.
The outlet reports more cloud cover during the morning, afternoon and night.
In the Inter-Andean region, the forecast calls for rain and drizzle in several northern, central and southern Sierra locations.
Cities listed include Tulcan, Quito, Latacunga, Ambato, Cuenca and Loja.
The Coast has variable conditions. El Universo reports that Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo and Quevedo could see rain during the afternoon and night.
In Galapagos, the forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, with isolated rain possible in parts of San Cristobal and Isabela.
Temperature Ranges
El Universo reports the forecast temperature ranges as:
- Coast: 23.5 C to 33 C
- Sierra: 9.5 C to 24.5 C
- Amazon: 18.5 C to 28.5 C
- Galapagos: 24 C to 30.5 C
What This Means For Expats
For Sunday travel, this is a pack-the-rain-gear forecast, especially in the Sierra and Amazon. Roads can change quickly when rain moves through the highlands, and afternoon errands may be less predictable than the morning plan suggests.
If you are moving between regions today, check local conditions before you leave rather than relying on one national forecast.
