Ecuador's July 16 forecast calls for variable skies, isolated rain, elevated temperatures, and radiation levels from high to extremely high.
The Alert
Inamhi maintains Alert 51, warning of higher maximum temperatures through Friday, July 17. The recommendation is to avoid prolonged sun exposure between 10:00 and 15:00 in areas with the highest indexes.
The same notice recommends minimizing intense outdoor activity, staying hydrated, and keeping rooms cool and ventilated.
Regional Forecast
On the Coast, isolated rain is expected, with Santo Domingo seeing rain during the early morning, afternoon and night, and Esmeraldas at night. Guayaquil and Santa Rosa are expected to see elevated temperatures in the morning and afternoon.
The Sierra forecast calls for partly cloudy skies without rain. Ibarra and Quito are expected to have hot mornings and afternoons, while Latacunga and Ambato are expected to see high temperatures in the morning.
The Amazon forecast calls for more widespread rain, affecting eight localities. Galápagos is forecast to have clear skies without rain.
What This Means For Expats
The practical move is boring but useful: schedule errands earlier, carry water, use sun protection, and take UV warnings seriously even when the temperature feels comfortable in the highlands.
